About YesLiberia
YesLiberia is a humanitarian organization that seeks to empower the youth of Liberia with scholarships to overcome disadvantages due to poverty. They are in the process of revamping their website, developing new methods for students to sign up for scholarships, and are in the process of developing a mobile application to allow users to accept and make donations.
Challenges
- The project manager for the website team has left, and it has been left up to a board member of less experience to take on the website
- The website has been produced with content last in mind
- The organization has an incomplete editorial style guide, which has progress, but I am not sure of how based on research this guide is
- Additionally, it lacks consideration of UX principles
- The app has been put on a hold for over a year, so when the project is restarted it will have to be relearned
- The products are for niche demographics
- The sign-up process is meant for students that are not technologically savvy, they haven’t experienced using computers or phones, according to leadership
- There is little online conversation about this topic, though with some digging and older sources we might be able to get some data
- The organization uses Google Docs vs. Notion which I have become accustomed to navigating my work
Goals
- Conduct UX writing research and generate a research report
- Create a comprehensive style guide for YesLiberia based on research, both for use in website content, app content, and social media content
- Audit/create content for website
- Assist with content for app
Methods
- Organize and analyze previous research conducted by YesLiberia
- Conduct additional research to fill in gaps
- Develop a list of organization needs and create a content design system based on those needs
